Job summary

Switchgear Magazine is seeking an Electrical Engineer to deliver primary plant layouts for HV substations and to prepare equipment specifications for HV plant and associated equipment. You will provide engineering design input to major infrastructure projects and act as Owners Engineer on HV substations, cables and OHL works.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Experience on HV projects
• Experience with major utilities or developers
• Experience as a designer or as project engineer
• Developing specifications for substation control systems, transformers, GIS, and AIS switchgear
• Ability to work flexibly across multiple projects
• Fluency in English
• Experience in technical report writing
• Full driving license and access to a personal vehicle as site visits may be required as part of this role
• Ideally have experience of working on multi-discipline engineering projects
• Ideally hold Chartered accreditation or working toward status
• Ideally consultancy experience
• Ideally experience in reviewing detailed designs & witnessing construction site activities

Responsibilities

• Produce primary plant layouts for HV substations
• Produce equipment specifications for HV Plant and associated equipment
• Provide engineering design input to major infrastructure projects
• Undertake an Owners Engineer role on HV substation/Cable and OHL projects
• Provide HV design input to renewable energy projects e.g., Battery storage, Solar, Hydro and Wind generation
• Provide professional services to clients in Ireland/UK and overseas

Fluency in English

HV project experience

Design/engineering project management

Technical report writing

Multi-discipline project exposure

Chartered accreditation (desirable)

Consultancy experience (desirable)

Site visits with driving license

Education
