Job summary

Designer Group is seeking a Senior High Voltage Design Engineer to lead HV design packages for substations across Europe. The role is primarily office-based with hybrid/remote options and requires strong technical leadership and regulatory knowledge.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver critical HV infrastructure. You will mentor junior engineers, develop design standards, and interface with clients and utilities throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with Power Systems focus.
• Minimum 5 years in HV design for utilities or HV contractors.
• Proficiency with ETAP, EPLAN, AutoCAD, CYMCAP, and CDEGS.
• Strong technical leadership and deliverable management.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical authority for HV design and delivery.
• Develop HV layouts, design philosophies, and standards.
• Lead HV protection and control system design for AIS and GIS.
• Review schematics, wiring diagrams, and one-line diagrams.
• Lead HV system studies: fault level, protection coordination, arc flash.
• Support pre-commissioning and commissioning with site teams.
• Interface with clients, utilities, and Owner’s Engineers.
• Ensure compliance with safety, technical, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with civil and structural teams for substations.
• Manage design comments and utilities queries with logs.
• Prepare and submit complete design packages.
• Develop procurement specs for HV equipment.
• Participate in technical meetings representing engineering.
• Provide mentorship to junior/graduate engineers.
