Job summary

Hitachi Energy Ireland Limited is seeking a Senior Commissioning Engineer to join the Grid & Power Quality Solutions and Service team in Dublin. You will lead testing and commissioning activities for HV substation projects, ensuring safety, quality, and timely delivery on site.

The role requires a degree in electrical engineering, knowledge of electrical safety standards, and experience with commissioning programs. Travel across Ireland and the EU is expected; visa sponsorship is not provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• Knowledge of electrical safety standards, policies, procedures, and practices.
• Experience in testing and commissioning HV substation equipment, protection, and control systems.
• Experience in Safe Systems of Work, LV permits, and lock-out tag-out procedures.
• Knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements and CDM regulations.
• Experience in developing commissioning programs and supporting procedures.
• Commissioning experience on HV/MN substations.
• Willingness to travel in Ireland/EU.

Responsibilities

• Manage the commissioning phase of Utilities and Data Centre substation projects, focusing on safety, quality, efficiency, cost-effectiveness.
• Work with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and optimization of digital engineering solutions.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders to foster relationships and align projects with community expectations.
• Prepare and review project documentation and reports.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers to foster excellence.
• Responsible for testing and commissioning of substation equipment.
• Prepare the project commissioning program, including schedule, inspection and test plans.
• Ensure adherence to Hitachi EHS and Quality Policies and project specs.
