Job summary

ESB is seeking a Professional Electrical Engineer, Commissioning, to join the HV Substations Delivery team. Based in Ireland, you will verify that HV equipment is fit for connection, conduct commissioning testing, and coordinate project delivery on a national basis.

The role requires knowledge of electrical safety, substations operation, and protection philosophies, with travel to sites as needed. A 3rd level qualification or equivalent is essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Electrical Safety Rules and procedures.
• Familiarity with operation of substations.
• Understanding protection philosophies for Transmission/Distribution networks.
• Ability to interpret schematics and perform testing.
• Self-motivated with initiative and teamwork

Responsibilities

• Assess site safety prior to commissioning activities and coordinate with site staff.
• Commissioning of primary, secondary and associated equipment in Transmission/Distribution networks.
• Test instrument transformers, power transformers and HV switchgear.
• Test protection relays and verify protection scheme designs.
• Plan, coordinate and deliver commissioning projects.
