Job summary

Hollybank Trustees Ltd in Drogheda, Ireland, seeks an experienced HV/MV Substation Commissioning Engineer to lead installation, testing, commissioning and energisation of substations on site.

The role covers AIS/GIS switchgear, transformers and protection systems, with responsibility for safe operation and thorough testing. Travel to project sites is required and a strong knowledge of HV procedures is essential.

Qualifications

• Electrical Engineering qualification or equivalent.
• Proven experience in HV/MV substation commissioning.
• Experience with protection relay testing and SCADA.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and single-line diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Commission HV and MV substations from pre-commissioning through energisation and handover.
• Test and commission HV/MV switchgear, circuit breakers, isolators and associated control systems.
• Commission power and distribution transformers and protection/monitoring systems.
• Test protection relays including overcurrent, earth fault and differential schemes.
• Carry out secondary injection testing and verify protection settings.
• Test CT/VT circuits, ratio, polarity and wiring.
• Commission control, interlocking, automation, RTU/IED and SCADA systems.
• Complete SCADA point-to-point, alarms and communication testing.
• Read and interpret single-line diagrams and protection drawings.
• Fault-find and resolve electrical, protection and communication issues.
