Job summary

Ardmac in Ireland seeks a Health and Safety Coordinator to implement and uphold construction health and safety standards across projects in the Minster region. You will verify subcontractor prequalifications, review risk assessments and method statements, and support the creation of Construction Phase Plans and Safety Files.

You will lead inductions, conduct weekly safety talks, audits and inspections, and mentor new team members on best practices, while liaising with clients and site management

Qualifications

• Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (Dip OHS) or equivalent.
• Comprehensive understanding of health and safety best practices in construction.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital health and safety management tools.

Responsibilities

• Verify subcontractors meet health and safety prequalification standards before work commencement.
• Review and approve risk assessments and method statements for all construction activities.
• Assist in creating, reviewing, and maintaining Construction Phase Plans, Health and Safety Files, and Project Quality Plans.
• Ensure inductions and task-specific training are completed for all site personnel.
• Review training records for statutory plant and equipment to ensure compliance.
• Confirm weekly Toolbox Talks are conducted by site management.
• Guide and support Safe Plans of Action (SPAs) usage by project personnel.
• Ensure Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and Quality Plans are developed and adhered to.
• Facilitate pre-commencement coordination meetings to align teams on safety expectations.
• Participate in daily site meetings, offering guidance as needed.
• Provide ongoing support to ensure compliance with safety standards and procedures.
• Promote Safety First conversations and engage staff in safety initiatives.
• Mentor and coach new team members on health and safety participation.
• Conduct and document weekly site HSE audits.
• Investigate and document incidents, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
• Liaise with client representatives and attend meetings to address safety concerns.
• Collaborate to review and improve project-specific safety performance.
