Job summary

Capri Medical in Dublin, Ireland, is seeking a driven Senior Hardware Engineer to build and test Implantable BioElectronics hardware in the lab.

You will design schematics and PCBs, perform board bring-up, and collaborate with firmware and software engineers on system integration and validation.

Qualifications

  • Electronic engineering degree (Bachelor/Master/PhD) with 6+ years hands-on experience.
  • Experience with medical devices and ISO 13485, IEC 60601 standards.
  • Proficient in analogue/digital circuit design and PCB development.
  • Hands-on soldering, PCB rework and lab debugging.
  • Altium design experience is a plus.
  • Embedded electronic design experience.
  • Experience with EMI/EMC testing and mitigation techniques.
  • Hands-on translating embedded device designs to finished products.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented team player.

Responsibilities

  • Hands-on hardware builds and prototype creation.
  • Hardware testing and board bring-up with firmware integration.
  • Design and review schematics and PCBs from concept through production.
  • Debugging hardware using lab equipment and generating test reports.
  • Collaborate with firmware/software engineers on system integration and validation.

  • Communicate test coverage and findings to improve tooling.

The Role

We are looking for a driven, detail-oriented and hands-on Senior Hardware Engineer who will spend the majority of their time in the lab building and testing our Implantable BioElectronics hardware.

  • Hands-on hardware builds, including prototype builds
  • Hardware testing and board bring-up, including firmware integration at a board level
  • Designing and reviewing schematics and PCBs for product boards and non-product test boards, from concept through to production
  • Debugging hardware using oscilloscopes, logic analysers, bench power supplies and other lab equipment
  • Failure analysis; design of test protocols; device testing & test reports; product validation
  • Working closely with firmware and software engineers on system integration and supporting validation of new boards
  • Documentation of specifications, requirements, etc.
  • Running existing Python test scripts and giving clear, well-documented feedback on findings to the wider engineering team
  • Feeding test coverage and findings back to the in-house Python developers to inform ongoing script development
What We\'re Looking For
  • Electronic engineering Bachelor / Masters / PHD with at least 6+ years’ experience, or an equivalent practical, hands-on background
  • Medical device experience and knowledge of medical device standards (e.g. ISO 13485, IEC 60601)
  • Experience in Electronic Circuit Design, for both digital and analogue circuit design
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with soldering, PCB rework and lab debugging
  • Schematic and PCB design experience, Altium experience a plus
  • Experience in embedded electronic design
  • Comfortable working with electronic laboratory test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analysers and bench power supplies
  • PCB layout experience and simulation (Altium)
  • Experience with EMI/EMC testing and mitigation techniques
  • Hands-on experience translating embedded device to finished product
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail
