BD is one of the largest global medical technology companies in the world. Advancing the world of health™ is our Purpose, and it’s no small feat. It takes the imagination and passion of all of us—from design and engineering to the manufacturing and marketing of our billions of MedTech products per year—to look at the impossible and find transformative solutions that turn dreams into possibilities.

Job Description
Our vision for Peripheral Intervention at BD

Our Peripheral Intervention (PI) business unit offers a comprehensive range of medical products, devices and services for the treatment of peripheral arterial and venous disease, cancer detection, and end-stage renal disease and maintenance.

About The Role

As a Senior Electronics Engineer, you will lead the design and development of regulated medical device hardware systems, supporting projects from concept and feasibility through design verification, validation, and commercialisation.

You will be responsible for the design, integration, and testing of complex electronic systems, including analog and digital circuitry, PCB assemblies, and cable harnesses, ensuring alignment with ISO 13485 design controls and FDA/MDR regulatory requirements. You will play a key role in ensuring product safety, compliance, and performance, supporting activities such as risk management (ISO 14971), EMC compliance, design verification/validation (V&V), and technical documentation for regulatory submissions (e.g., 510(k), CE Marking).

Main Responsibilities Will Include
  • Lead electronics development activities in compliance with medical device design control standards, including ISO 13485 and 21 CFR Part 820.
  • Define system architecture and hardware solutions aligned with product and system requirements.
  • Select medical-grade electronic components and develop schematics, PCB layouts, and board bring-up activities.
  • Generate design outputs, support manufacturing transfer, and contribute to production test development.
  • Integrate PCB assemblies, power systems, and cable harnesses into complex medical devices.
  • Design and develop analog, digital, and power conversion circuits using calculations, simulations, and engineering analysis.
  • Plan and execute design verification testing, including protocol development, reporting, and EMI/ESD compliance testing.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, specifying hardware, software, and mechanical interfaces, and participate in design reviews.
  • Mentor junior Electronics Engineers and support technical growth within the engineering team.
  • Support regulatory submissions and risk management activities, including technical documentation, FMEA, hazard analysis, root cause investigations, and corrective actions for design and field issues.
About You
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of electronics engineering experience, ideally within the medical device sector or another highly regulated industry.
  • Strong expertise in analog and digital circuit design, with a solid understanding of electronic engineering fundamentals.
  • Proven experience in PCB design, system integration, and design for EMC/EMI compliance.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of communication protocols, including I2C, SPI, UART, and CAN, with experience interfacing to embedded systems.
  • Proficiency in the use of standard electronics laboratory equipment for testing, troubleshooting, and validation activities.
  • Experience using PCB design and simulation tools, particularly Altium Designer and SPICE.
  • Exposure to algorithm development, data analysis, and modelling using tools such as Python or MATLAB.
  • Knowledge of power electronics, motor drives, and MCAD tools such as SolidWorks.
  • Familiarity with medical device regulations and standards, including ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 60601, FDA 21 CFR Part 820/510(k), and EU MDR/CE Marking requirements.
