Job summary

Egis Engineering - Ireland is seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Design Engineer to lead and deliver high-impact geotechnical design for major infrastructure across Ireland. The role requires senior technical leadership and a track record on complex projects with public and private sector clients.

The successful candidate will contribute to a multidisciplinary team, ensure compliance with Eurocodes and Irish/UK standards, and mentor junior staff while advancing geotechnical design

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years post graduate experience in geotechnical design engineering.
• Experience on large civil infrastructure projects within a busy consultancy.
• Strong experience in earthworks, foundations, retaining structures, and ground improvement techniques.
• Proficient in geotechnical design software (e.g., PLAXIS, SLOPE/W, WALLAP, Settle3).
• Chartership (CEng or equivalent) with Engineers Ireland or equivalent.
• Excellent communication and report writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage geotechnical input on large-scale civil infrastructure projects.
• Prepare and review geotechnical design calculations, reports, specifications, and drawings.
• Provide technical mentorship to junior staff within the geotechnical team.
• Undertake ground investigation scoping, design, supervision, and interpretation.
• Collaborate with civil, structural, and environmental engineering teams.
• Liaise with project stakeholders, clients, and contractors during design and construction phases.
• Ensure that all geotechnical design work is delivered to the highest quality and safety standards in accordance with Eurocodes and Irish/UK standards.
