Job summary

Waterford City and County Council is seeking to fill the post of Senior Executive Quantity Surveyor, a full-time position assigned to the Housing Department in Waterford City. • Professional qualification in Quantity Surveying under Building Control Act 2007.

• High standard of administrative and management experience.
• Satisfactory knowledge of public service organisation or ability to acquire such knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Lead financial management, procurement, contract administration and project management of a diverse works portfolio for social housing projects.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget in compliance with public procurement and housing guidelines.
• Report to Senior Architect and support multi-disciplinary housing delivery team.

Job description

Waterford City & County Council is seeking to fill a post of Senior Executive Quantity Surveyor. This post is for a full-time position with initial assignment to the Housing Department, based in Waterford City. The Senior Executive Quantity Surveyor (Housing) is a key member of the Council’s multi-disciplinary housing delivery team. The successful candidate will lead the financial management, procurement, contract administration and project management of a diverse works portfolio. This includes new-build social housing construction and the retrofitting of existing housing stock. Reporting to the Senior Architect, the role demands high-level technical expertise to ensure all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in strict compliance with public procurement and national housing guidelines.

Waterford City and County Council (Comhairle Cathrach agus Contae Phort Láirge) is the authority responsible for local government in the City & County of Waterford, Ireland. Job Requirements:

Character:
Each candidate must be of good character.

Health:

Candidates shall be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

Candidates shall, on the latest date for receipt applications:

(a) hold a professional qualification in Quantity Surveying that is prescribed under the Building Control Act 2007, or a qualification in Quantity Surveying, that is equivalent to a qualification so prescribed in Section 29 of the Building Control Act 2007, and

(b) be eligible for registration as a Quantity Surveyor under the Building Control Act 2007 without requiring further assessment. Any appointment by the employing local authority will be subject to registration under the Act.

(c) have at least seven years satisfactory relevant experience in quantity surveying;

(d) possess a high standard of technical training and experience;

(e) possess a high standard of administrative and management experience;

(f) have satisfactory knowledge of public service organisation or the ability to acquire such knowledge.
