Job summary

Kraken is seeking a senior product-facing regulatory lawyer to support European leadership as products and licensing structures evolve across MiFID II/MiCA/PSD2 and related regimes. You will translate complex EU rules into clear guidance for Product, Design, Engineering and Compliance, enabling compliant launches and ongoing operations.

You will own cross-functional counselling, manage outside counsel where needed, mentor junior lawyers, and help shape an open, trusted regulatory function that

Qualifications

• 15+ years PQE in financial services regulatory law.
• Deep knowledge of MiFID II/MiFIR, MiCA, PSD2/EMR and banking rules.
• Ability to map products to overlapping regimes with clear classifications.
• Experience managing regulator relationships and external counsel.
• Comfort working autonomously in a fast-moving, remote environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide cross-functional regulatory counselling for EU product launches from discovery to launch.
• Advise on perimeters and classifications across MiFID II/MiCA/EMIR, PSD2, EMD2 and banking rules.
• Draft and negotiate client-facing terms and oversee outside counsel as needed.
• Mentor more junior lawyers and set quality standards for plain-English advice.
• Use AI tools to speed regulatory analysis and build self-service resources.
