Job summary

Stewart Construction is seeking a proactive Senior Estimator to join our expanding team and work on prestigious commercial, industrial, and educational projects across Ireland. You will review tender documents, price works, build BOQs, normalise quotes and present tenders to the senior team, mentoring junior estimators as needed.

Essential requirements include a Quantity Surveying degree, 5+ years with a main contractor or equivalent, and experience pricing €5m+ projects.

Qualifications

• A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or similar.
• 5+ years estimating with a main contractor or PQS/contractor mix.
• Experience pricing projects worth €5m+ from first principles.
• Knowledge of PWC forms and Irish public procurement.

Responsibilities

• Review tender docs and decide bid strategy with the MD.
• Measure and price works; build up rates and BOQs; set preliminaries.
• Obtain, compare and normalise subcontractor and supplier quotes.
• Produce cost plans and value engineering options for design and build.
• Price PWC/public contracts and framework mini-competitions with quality submissions.
• Spot risks, qualifications and clarifications; price them.
• Present tenders at settlement meetings with the senior team.
• Handover won jobs to delivery team; track tender performance and win rates.
• Mentor junior estimators and maintain cost database.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and company policies.

Key responsibilities

• Review tender documents and drawings, and decide bid strategy with the MD

• Measure and price works: build up rates, prepare BOQs and set out preliminaries

• Get, compare and normalise subcontractor and supplier quotes

• Produce cost plans and value engineering options for design-and-build clients

• Price public works contracts (PWC) and framework mini-competitions, including quality submissions

• Spot risks, qualifications and clarifications, and price them

• Present tenders at settlement meetings with the senior team

• Hand won jobs over to the delivery team, then track tender performance and win rates

• Mentor junior estimators and keep the cost database up to date

• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and company policies

What you'll bring

Essential

• A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or similar

• At least 5 years estimating with a main contractor, or a mix of PQS and contractor experience

• A record of pricing building projects worth €5m+ from first principles

• Good knowledge of PWC forms and Irish public procurement

• Confident use of CostX, Bluebeam or similar take-off software

Desirable

• Hotel, education, life sciences or refurbishment experience

• SCSI, RICS or CIOB membership, or working towards it

• Manual Handling and Safe Pass
