Job summary

Key Talent Solutions is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer – Energy in Ireland to lead civil engineering inputs for renewable-energy developments including wind, solar PV, and BESS. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure delivery meets programme, quality standards and client budgets.

The role requires Chartered Civil Engineer status, strong delivery capabilities, and willingness to travel to project sites while working initially in-office and progressing to hybrid work.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering (required).
• Minimum 7 years' post-graduate civil engineering experience.
• Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or equivalent.
• Strong track record delivering projects to programme, quality standards and client requirements.
• Experience coordinating CAD/design outputs with engineers and technicians.

Responsibilities

• Deliver energy and renewable projects on time, within budget and quality standards.
• Lead preliminary civil design inputs for renewables (wind, solar, BESS) and related infra.
• Coordinate CAD design documentation with Project Engineers and Technicians.
• Attend client, stakeholder and site meetings and provide practical engineering input.
• Coordinate with planning, environmental, geotechnical, ecology and other disciplines.
• Manage technical actions, interfaces, risks and deliverables throughout projects.

Location: Dublin, Cork or Carlow, Ireland

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time

Working Pattern: Office-based through probation, moving to hybrid

Travel: Travel to project sites and client meetings may be required

We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer – Energy to join a multidisciplinary engineering team delivering civil engineering inputs across energy and renewable-development projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Chartered Civil Engineer with strong project delivery and design coordination experience to take ownership of engineering deliverables across renewable-energy developments, including wind, solar PV, BESS and associated infrastructure.

You will work closely with clients, project engineers, technicians and multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects are delivered to the required programme, quality standards and client budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver energy and renewable projects in line with agreed timescales, quality standards and client budgets.
• Lead and coordinate preliminary civil design inputs for renewable developments, including wind, solar PV, BESS and associated infrastructure.
• Plan, review and coordinate CAD design documentation with Project Engineers and Engineering Technicians.
• Attend client, stakeholder and site meetings, providing clear and practical engineering input.
• Coordinate with planning, environmental, geotechnical, ecology and wider engineering disciplines.
• Manage technical actions, design interfaces, assumptions, risks and design deliverables throughout project stages.
• Ensure compliance with quality assurance and management systems.
• Ensure engineering activities comply with relevant health and safety legislation and project requirements.
• Support the preparation of technical reports, proposals and project documentation.
• Contribute to internal technical reviews and multidisciplinary project coordination.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 7 years' post-graduate civil engineering experience.
• Chartered Engineer status.
• Strong track record of delivering projects against programme, quality standards and client requirements.
• Experience coordinating CAD/design outputs and working with engineering technicians or junior engineers.
• Strong communication, organisational and analytical skills.
• Proven experience working with clients, subcontractors and external stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Full, clean driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites and client meetings.
• Ability to work from Dublin, Cork or Carlow and undertake the initial office-based probation period.

The following experience would be highly advantageous:

• Preliminary civil design for onshore wind, solar PV, BESS, substations, access roads, platforms, drainage or site infrastructure.
• Renewable-energy planning and EIAR interface experience.
• Strong Civil 3D, AutoCAD, drainage, earthworks or roads design experience.
• Experience within an engineering consultancy delivering multidisciplinary projects.
• Tender or proposal preparation experience.
• Experience working within the Irish or UK regulatory and design environment.

What You'll Bring

We are looking for a technically strong and commercially aware engineer who can take ownership of civil engineering deliverables while confidently working with clients and multidisciplinary project teams.

Direct renewable-energy experience would be highly advantageous, but strong transferable civil design experience across infrastructure, roads, drainage, earthworks or site development will also be considered.
