Job summary

European Tech Recruit collaborates with a global semiconductor leader to recruit a Senior Embedded Software Engineer for Cork, Ireland. The role focuses on storage drivers, filesystems, and tools across a Linux-based SoC storage stack with NVMe/UFS interfaces.

The engineer will optimise kernel components, debug with JTAG/ICE, and contribute to upstream Linux activities while driving performance improvements for automotive and consumer embedded markets.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of embedded software experience.
• Deep expertise in Linux kernel programming, device driver development and kernel internals.
• Experience with Linux filesystem modules (F2FS, EXT4, EROFS) advantageous.
• Strong kernel and user-space debugging skills including JTAG/ICE debuggers.
• Familiarity with ARM architecture and real-time/embedded programming concepts.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain storage drivers and proprietary filesystem modules for modem processors and Linux-based SoCs.
• Work on Linux kernel components including storage drivers, filesystem modules, block drivers, and memory subsystems.
• Optimise storage and memory performance for runtime efficiency and power consumption.
• Debug and resolve kernel-level issues reported by customers and flash vendor partners.
• Contribute to upstream Linux kernel community on new storage and memory features.
• Support expansion into automotive, home entertainment, and embedded computing markets.
