Job summary

Veolia Group is seeking a Senior Electrical Estimator/Quantity Surveyor to lead cost estimation for Design & Build bids in Water, Waste & Energy projects. You will develop BOQs, cost schedules and risk assessments, and negotiate with subcontractors to secure competitive quotes.

Based in Ireland with hybrid work between Kilkenny and Dublin, the role requires 5+ years in estimating electrical projects, strong contract knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple bids to tight deadlines.

Qualifications

  • 3rd level qualification in Construction Economics, Quantity Surveying, Building Services Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience estimating and managing electrical projects with MCC, instrumentation, Building Services and SCADA systems.
  • Strong knowledge of contract law and infrastructure contracts across Industrial, Municipal, Pharmaceutical, Manufacturing, Food & Beverage sectors.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills with subcontractors, suppliers and clients across multiple sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical cost estimation for Design & Build bids across Water, Waste & Energy projects.
  • Develop detailed cost estimates, BOQs, schedules of rates and commercial assessments.
  • Negotiate with electrical subcontractors and suppliers to secure quotes and ensure design feasibility.
  • Prepare comprehensive commercial documents and risk assessments for tender submissions.
  • Manage multiple bids and prioritize to meet proposal deadlines.
  • Assist Proposals team on quantity surveying matters during delivery.

You will lead the electrical cost estimation and commercial planning during the proposals phase, supporting bids from inception through to tender submission.Upon contract award, you will transition projects to the Contracts team whilst remaining available to provide ongoing commercial and quantity surveying support during the delivery phase as required.This role requires flexibility, strong commercial acumen, and the ability to work collaboratively across both the Proposals and Contracts functions to ensure maximum value delivery for Veolia.Key Responsibilities:Proposals Phase (Primary Focus) Lead electrical cost estimation for Design & Build bids across Water, Waste & Energy projects serving Municipal, Industrial, Pharmaceutical, Data Centres, Manufacturing, Food & Beverage, and other key sectors, with particular expertise in Motor Control Centre (MCC) panels, instrumentation systems, electrical installations including building services, and SCADA SystemsDevelop detailed cost estimates, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), schedule of rates and commercial assessments (focus on quantities, costs and commercial risks) aligned with project scope and client requirementsNegotiate with electrical subcontractors and suppliers to secure competitive quotes, validate costs, and ensure technical feasibility of designsPrepare comprehensive commercial documentation and risk assessments to support tender submissionsCollaborate with the project team to ensure electrical estimates reflect technical complexity and align with overall bid strategyManage multiple concurrent bids and prioritise effectively to meet proposal deadlinesSupport the Proposals team on quantity surveying matters across various sectors as requiredContract Transition & Delivery Support (As Required)Assist with handover of projects to the Contracts team upon award with clear commercial baseline and documentationProvide ongoing commercial and quantity surveying support during project delivery, including subcontractor account management and payment administrationCompare quantities/scopes defined during detailed design with the ones agreed contractually and flag any discrepanciesSupport the Contracts team during quieter proposal periods to maintain project momentum and commercial complianceCollaborate with the project and procurement teams to review, assess and document subcontracts and any subsequent variationsRequired skills for this role:3rd level qualification in either Construction Economics, Quantity Surveying, Building Services Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplineMinimum 5 years' experience estimating and managing electrical projects, with proven expertise in Motor Control Centre (MCC) panels, instrumentation systems, electrical installations, Building Services, and SCADA systemsStrong knowledge of contract law and demonstrated experience with infrastructure contracts across Industrial, Municipal, Pharmaceutical, Manufacturing, Food & Beverage, and similar sectorsExcellent negotiation and communication skills with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients across multiple sectorsStrong Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Project); experience with construction estimating software desirableAbility to manage multiple concurrent bids, prioritise effectively, and work to tight deadlines whilst maintaining high attention to detailFull, clean driving licence and eligible to work in IrelandPlease note:If you are an EU/EEA national, you will be asked to show proof of right to work in Ireland.If you are a non-EU/EEA national , you will require current and valid permission to work and reside in the Republic of Ireland.Information on legislation and guides to the procedures in relation to obtaining greencard permits ,work permits, spousal/dependant permits is available on the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation website.
