Job summary

Veolia Group in Kilkenny is seeking a Project Engineer (Mechanical) for small projects across water and wastewater facilities. The role combines office, site-based work with hybrid/WFH arrangements, reporting to the Project Manager, and coordinating a multi-disciplinary team.

The ideal candidate holds an NFQ Level 7 degree in Mechanical Engineering with practical site experience and strong communication. You will develop designs, prepare regulatory/safety documentation, and manage procurement

Qualifications

• NFQ Level 7 degree in Engineering (Mechanical) or related science.
• Practical site experience desirable.
• Experience in water/wastewater projects is advantageous.
• Excellent communication and writing skills required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate design and execution activities across multi-disciplinary teams.
• Assist in design development from concept to delivery and construction.
• Prepare delivery documentation for client submissions and regulatory safety documents.
• Liaise with design teams, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure on-time delivery.

It's why we're looking for someone who's just as committed as we are, to push for genuine change and bring our ambition of Ecological Transformation to life.We know that everyone here at Veolia can help us work alongside our communities, look after the environment, and contribute to our inclusive culture.Project Engineer (Mechanical) - Small ProjectsLocation: KilkennyDuration: PermanentWork Hours/Schedule: Role will be mix of office/site based and WFH - Monday to Friday roleOverview of the Role:Due to ageing assets and an increased scope on maintenance works across a number of operational water and wastewater facilities in Ireland, there is expanded scope for small and medium size upgrade works to be completed onsite.The successful candidate will work alongside the Project Manager in coordinating a multi disciplined team to include process/mechanical/civil/structural/electrical work associated with various Water and Wastewater Treatment projects across the Island of Ireland.The Project Engineer will have responsibility for assisting in the designdevelopment of the water and wastewater treatment contracts from early design / concept stage through to detailed design stage and onto delivery / construction stage. Collaborating with the Project Manager in the preparation of delivery documentation for client submissions including technical submissions, managing sub-consultant submissions , preparing regulatory Health & Safety documentation, detailed design packages, tendering documentation and construction design packages.During delivery stage the Project Engineer will liaise with design teams andsuppliers, manage subcontractors, installation personnel and commissioning teams to ensure that projects are delivered on schedule and within budget. Ensure, all equipment is sized, procured, delivered, installed, tested and ultimately commissioned in accordance with contractual requirements.Day to Day of the Role:Take ownership of delegated projects and project issuesEnsure thorough knowledge and understanding of the contract for all assigned projectsEvaluation of Client Specifications as well as liaising with Client and Client RepresentativesCommunicate with the Project Manager, National General Manager and Water operations team including site managers during the execution of the projectInteract with our multi-disciplined engineering team, partaking in the final design, equipment selection and procurement activitiesOrganising, co-coordinating and managing design activities while maintaining H&S in line with Veolia standardsManaging aspects of the project within defined budgets and agreed timelines through monitoring and tracking for adherence with the project brief and programmeApply procedures in place related to contract executionRequired Skills for the Role:Minimum NFQ Level 7 degree in an Engineering (Mechanical Engineering Degree is preferable) and/or Science DisciplinePractical site experience (Desired)Practical experience in being part of a project team from initial stages to delivery stageManaging design/site activities including team coordinationAbility to work on own initiative and effectively manage & coordinate design /site activitiesExperience in the execution of water/wastewater engineering projects is desirableIT skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Power PointGood organisational and time management skillsSelf-motivatedStrong communication and writing skillsPlease note:If you are an EU/EEA national, you will be asked to show proof of right to work in Ireland.If you are a non-EU/EEA national , you will require current and valid permission to work and reside in the Republic of Ireland.Information on legislation and guides to the procedures in relation to obtaining greencard permits ,work permits, spousal/dependant permits is available on the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation website.
