Job summary

Suir Engineering Ltd is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our EP&R Estimating Department. This role can be based in Waterford or City West and involves leading HV/MV tender electrical solutions.

The ideal candidate will have a third level qualification in Electrical Engineering and 5-7 years of experience in HV/MV engineering, preferably in power, renewables or grid connection sectors. You will review requirements, size cables, coordinate with OEMs, and support tender submissions.

Qualifications

• Third-level qualification in Electrical Engineering.
• 5-7 years of experience in HV/MV engineering.
• Experience in power, renewables or grid connection sectors.
• Experience supporting tender submissions or pre-construction environments.
• Ability to engage with OEMs, consultants and internal stakeholders.
• Experience in renewable energy projects and interfacing with DNO/TSO standards.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical lead within the EP&R Estimating team for HV and MV tenders.
• Review Employer’s Requirements, technical specs and docs to identify risks and opportunities.
• Develop compliant and optimised technical solutions aligned with tender requirements.
• Carry out cable sizing and routing assessments for HV/MV/LV/DC systems.
• Produce and review single line diagrams, schematics and layouts.
• Define primary plant configuration including transformers, GIS/AIS, BESS integration.
• Review protection and control requirements with OEMs and system designers.
• Prepare technical schedules, scope clarifications and assumptions for tenders.
• Engage with suppliers and OEMs to review technical submissions and ensure compliance.
• Participate in technical bid evaluations and preferred bidder selection.
• Identify technical risk items and advise contingencies during tender stage.
• Support RFI preparation and technical correspondence with clients.
