Job summary

Suir Engineering is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the EP&R Estimating Dept. This role can be based in Waterford or City West and will lead technical work for HV/MV tenders, interfacing with estimating, suppliers, and clients.

You will develop compliant solutions, carry out cable sizing, produce schematics, define plant configurations, review protection schemes, and drive the technical submission through to completion.

Qualifications

• Third level qualification in Electrical Engineering.
• 5–7 years’ HV/MV experience, preferably in power or renewables.
• Experience supporting tender submissions or pre-construction activities.
• Ability to engage with OEMs and internal stakeholders on technical matters.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical lead within the EP&R Estimating team for HV and MV tenders.
• Review Employer’s Requirements, Technical Specifications and docs for risks.
• Develop compliant, optimised technical solutions aligned with tender strategy.
• Carry out cable sizing and routing assessments for HV, MV, LV, DC systems.
• Produce and review Single Line Diagrams, schematics and layouts.
• Define primary plant configuration including transformers and switchgear.
• Review protection and control requirements with OEMs and designers.
• Prepare technical schedules, clarifications and assumptions for tenders.
• Engage with suppliers and OEMs to review submissions and support pricing.
• Participate in tender evaluations and preferred bidder processes.
• Identify technical risks and advise contingencies during tender stage.
• Support RFI preparation and technical correspondence with clients.
• Drive technical submission alignment with design intent, pricing and programme.
• Collaborate with internal teams and site operations for buildability.
