Job summary

MSD Ireland is seeking a Senior EHS Specialist for its state-of-the-art vaccines manufacturing site in Dundalk. You will lead site-wide Environmental, Health & Safety programs, ensuring regulatory compliance and embedding a strong safety culture with site leadership.

You will develop procedures, train staff, manage risk assessments, support regulatory interactions, and drive continuous improvement across biosafety, industrial hygiene, and Process Safety, with a hybrid work arrangement available.

Qualifications

• This role requires a degree in environmental science, occupational health & safety, or engineering.
• Significant EHS experience in regulated manufacturing (pharma/biotech).
• Experience implementing site-wide EHS programmes and compliance initiatives.
• Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting.
• Experience engaging with regulators and supporting inspections.
• Knowledge of biosafety, industrial hygiene, and risk management is desirable.
• Proven ability to lead investigations and drive continuous improvement.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
• Excellent communication and ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical actions.
• Capacity to manage multiple projects and priorities with execution focus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of EHS programmes across the site.
• Partner with site leadership to embed a strong safety culture and regulatory compliance.
• Develop and implement EHS procedures, standards, training, and best practices.
• Provide technical guidance on environmental, health, safety, and compliance matters.
• Lead and support EHS risk assessments, investigations, and corrective actions.
• Support interactions with regulatory agencies and permit management activities.
• Drive biosafety, environmental management, industrial hygiene, and Process Safety initiatives.
• Support management of change activities with EHS risk controls.
• Monitor EHS performance, identify trends, and plan improvement actions.
• Deliver training and coaching to employees, contractors, and leadership.
