Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc., Rahway, NJ, USA, also known as Merck Sharp & Dohme LLC, Rahway, NJ, USA, seeks a Senior EHS Specialist at a Dundalk vaccines site to lead site-wide EHS programmes and embed a culture of safety. You will partner with leadership and operations to ensure regulatory compliance and effective risk management.

The role requires extensive experience in pharma EHS, biosafety, and process safety, with a focus on training, investigations, and continuous improvement across manufacturing

Qualifications

• Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Significant EHS experience within a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other highly regulated manufacturing environment.
• Experience developing and implementing EHS programmes, policies, and site-wide compliance initiatives.
• Strong understanding of environmental regulations, permitting requirements, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
• Experience engaging with environmental regulators and supporting inspections or permit management activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of Environmental, Health & Safety programmes across the site.
• Partner with site leadership and operational teams to embed a strong culture of safety, compliance, and risk awareness.
• Develop and implement EHS procedures, standards, training programmes, and best practices.
• Provide technical guidance and support on environmental, health, safety, and compliance matters.
• Lead and support EHS risk assessments, investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support interactions with regulatory agencies and ensure compliance with environmental permits and regulatory requirements.
