Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. in Ireland is seeking a QC team lead with a B.Sc. in Microbiology or Biology and at least 3 years in pharmaceutical QC labs. The role focuses on environmental monitoring, aseptic technique, and guiding shift-based analysts across GMP environments.

You will work within our Dundalk and Dublin sites supporting drug substance and product manufacturing, with emphasis on data integrity in QC systems and real-time issue resolution under manufacturing pressure.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in pharmaceutical QC lab with environmental monitoring exposure.
  • Lead, organize and guide analysts in a shift-based environment.
  • Aseptic techniques, cleanroom behavior and GMP basics.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for team guidance.
  • Troubleshooting under manufacturing pressure and real-time decisions.
  • Proficient in QC data systems and regulatory expectations (cGMP).

Responsibilities

  • Lead, organize, and guide analysts in a shift-based QC environment.
  • Ensure aseptic handling and cleanroom compliance in daily operations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve real-time manufacturing issues.
  • Maintain data integrity within QC data systems and reports.

What skills you will need:
  • B.Sc. degree in Microbiology, Biological Sciences, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology QC laboratory, with direct exposure to environmental monitoring and core microbiological assays.
  • Demonstrated capability or strong aptitude to lead, organize, and guide other analysts in a shift‑based environment.
  • Strong understanding of aseptic techniques, cleanroom behavior, and clean utility operations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively guide the team and handle shift‑level escalations.
  • Proven troubleshooting and real‑time problem‑solving skills under manufacturing operational pressures.
  • Proficiency in QC data systems (e.g., LIMS equivalent environmental monitoring software).
  • Strong knowledge of cGMP, GDocP, and basic regulatory expectation
