Job summary

Manpower Ireland is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer based in Kilkenny to lead electrical and instrumentation design for large water and wastewater projects. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver compliant, high-quality infrastructure solutions across Ireland.

You will design distribution systems, control panels, and automation solutions, engage with clients and external bodies, and mentor junior engineers throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering (Level 7 or higher).
• 10+ years' experience in Electrical Design Engineering.
• Water/Wastewater industry experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Produce Electrical and Instrumentation designs for Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants.
• Liaise with ESB and other external stakeholders.
• Design electrical distribution systems, control panels, instrumentation, and general services.
• Prepare technical designs, procurement specifications, and engineering documentation.
• Develop automation hardware and network architecture solutions.
• Prepare cable, IO, and power schedules.
• Review and update electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and single line diagrams.
• Support FAT testing and commissioning activities.
• Collaborate with Mechanical, Process, Automation and Civil teams.
• Ensure compliance with Irish Standards, IEC standards, and Water Industry specs.
• Provide technical leadership to junior engineers.

Are you an experienced Electrical Design Engineer looking to work on innovative and large-scale Water and Wastewater Treatment projects?

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team delivering high-quality infrastructure solutions across the water sector. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong and motivated professional to take on a key role within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.

You will work alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams, supporting the design, development, and delivery of electrical and instrumentation systems for major projects across Ireland.

The Role

As Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for producing detailed electrical and instrumentation designs while ensuring projects are delivered to the highest technical and quality standards.

You will work closely with clients, suppliers, project teams, and subcontractors, providing technical expertise throughout the full project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

What We're Looking For
