Job summary

Harper Finley Professional Recruitment is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join a Limerick-based design team delivering water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

You will take ownership of water network design, produce detailed drawings in AutoCAD, and work with project managers and construction teams to ensure on-schedule delivery and technical integrity.

Qualifications

A well-established and growing engineering and construction business is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join its Limerick-based design team, delivering infrastructure projects across the water and wastewater sectors. The role offers an experienced engineer the opportunity to take ownership of water network design, working closely with project managers and wider engineering teams, and would suit someone with strong design experience, ideally from a main contractor background.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of water network infrastructure projects
• Produce and review detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation using AutoCAD
• Take ownership of design deliverables, ensuring projects are delivered accurately and on schedule
• Work closely with project managers, construction teams, and other stakeholders
• Review technical requirements and develop practical, cost-effective design solutions
• Provide technical input on design queries, reviews, and project issues
• Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, specifications, and project requirements
• Support projects from initial design through to construction and completion
• Provide technical guidance and support to more junior members of the design team

Requirements

• Strong experience in water network design – essential
• Proficient in AutoCAD
• Main contractor experience strongly preferred
• Wastewater network experience highly desirable
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of design deliverables
