Senior Construction Finance Controller

Job summary

MPG Recruitment Limited is partnering with a well-established Irish construction and civil engineering business to appoint a hands-on Financial Controller who will own the finance function.

The role requires a construction background, strong project accounting and the ability to support site and senior management teams. You will drive month-end closes, audits, cash flow, payroll, tax compliance and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with post‑qualification experience in construction
• Experience as Financial Controller or senior finance lead
• Background in construction, civil engineering or contracting
• Strong project accounting, job costing and RCT experience
• Experience managing audits, tax compliance and payroll
• Proven ability to add value through system improvements and cash collection
• Experience leading and mentoring a team
• Advanced Excel and MS Office; Sage experience is a plus

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end close and deliver accurate, timely monthly management accounts
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations
• Manage year-end process and liaise with external auditors
• Develop and maintain strong financial controls and processes
• Run job costing and monitor project costs, margins and profitability
• Oversee accounts payable/receivable and credit control
• Provide financial analysis to support strategic decisions
• Lead and develop the finance team
• Collaborate with site and operations teams to drive improvements
