Job summary

Celtic Careers is partnering with a growing client in the construction and industrial services sector to appoint an experienced Financial Controller in Maynooth, Ireland. The role leads the finance function and supports growth with hands-on financial oversight.

The position supports expansion across the UK and Europe and requires a commercially focused finance professional who can drive effective controls and strategic decision-making in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified Accountant with ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent.
• Experience as Financial Controller or senior finance role.
• Experience in construction/engineering sector.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting and GL management.
• Experience with UK VAT and CIS is desirable.
• Ability to lead finance function independently.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial statements.
• Manage general ledger, reconciliations, cash flow, approvals.
• Prepare VAT, RCT, CIS and other returns.
• Lead budgeting and forecasting.
• Monitor variances vs budgets.
• Develop and maintain strong financial controls.
• Provide financial analysis for investments and decisions.
• Manage business expense processes.
• Assist with year-end accounts and audits.
• Advise on technical accounting, intercompany matters.
• Identify risks and implement controls.
• Drive continuous improvement of processes.
• Provide financial insight to senior management.
