Job summary

Purcell Construction is seeking a Senior EHS Officer to lead health, safety and environmental compliance on Dublin/Leinster projects. The role focuses on promoting a positive safety culture and ensuring adherence to Irish legislation and ISO standards.

You will conduct site inspections, RAMS reviews, risk assessments and incident investigations, support project teams, and mentor junior EHS staff, contributing to continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in a Health, Safety and Environmental role within the construction industry.
• Strong understanding of Irish health and safety legislation, environmental management systems and ISO standards.
• Experience in conducting site inspections, risk assessments, incident investigations and RAMS reviews.
• Effective communicator with the ability to influence positive safety behaviours and build strong working relationships across project teams.
• Strong organisational, leadership and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Committed to promoting a culture of safety, continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and promote compliance with company EHS policies, ISO management systems and all relevant health, safety and environmental regulations across project sites.
• Support the development of a positive safety culture by engaging with site teams, subcontractors and stakeholders, while driving behavioural safety initiatives and continuous improvement.
• Manage day-to-day EHS activities including site inspections, inductions, permit-to-work systems, RAMS reviews, safety queries and corrective actions.
• Assist project teams with risk management, environmental compliance, incident investigations, safety reporting and the implementation of EHS action plans.
• Provide leadership and support to junior EHS team members, monitor subcontractor performance and contribute to lessons learned and performance improvement initiatives.
