Job summary

Cunningham Civil & Marine in Mayo is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to lead the planning, design and delivery of civil, conservation and marine projects on site.

You will prepare and review drawings and reports, perform technical calculations, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior engineers, and liaise with clients and stakeholders to ensure projects meet standards, safety and environmental requirements.

Role Description The Senior Civil Engineer is a full-time role initially on site in Co.Mayo. This position involves leading the planning, design, and delivery of civil, conservation and marine projects. Day-to-day tasks include preparing and reviewing engineering drawings and reports, performing technical calculations, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and supporting permit and approval processes. The Senior Civil Engineer will mentor junior engineers, liaise with clients and stakeholders, and ensure projects comply with relevant standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements. The role also includes contributing to project budgeting, scheduling, and quality control to ensure successful project outcomes.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in Civil Engineering Design and Civil Engineering, with the ability to lead complex infrastructure and marine projects.
• Experience working collaboratively with other Civil Engineers, including mentoring and technical guidance.
• Demonstrated skills in Planning for civil works, including site layout, infrastructure coordination, and regulatory approvals.
• Hands-on experience with building and civil engineering projects.
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering.
• Professional engineering registration or eligibility to obtain it within a reasonable timeframe.
• Proficiency with relevant design and modeling software.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills, with attention to detail and quality.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
• Experience managing project timelines, budgets, and deliverables in a consulting or construction environment.
