Job summary

Squarespace Dublin is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer for the Databases team to maintain critical backend infrastructure and build automation for scale. This hybrid Dublin role reports to the Databases Engineering Team Manager and focuses on Go-based services, databases like MongoDB, CockroachDB, and Kafka, and scalable infrastructure for millions of customers.

You will collaborate across product engineering and mentor teammates while shaping architecture and ownership of key systems.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience developing backend systems with GoLang or similar OO languages.
• Strong CS fundamentals including data structures, databases, and design principles.
• Experience with GoLang, document and relational databases.
• Familiarity with event-driven systems and messaging tools (Kafka).
• BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• Proven ability to take technical ownership and lead large projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop automation interacting with our infrastructure in the GCP cloud.
• Drive performance improvements and scalability for infrastructure in MongoDB, CockroachDB, and Kafka.
• Collaborate with engineering teams across SQSP to build scalable new services.
• Mentor junior team members and participate in design reviews.
