Job summary

Telnyx is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our WebRTC squad and help build, operate, and evolve the backend services behind our real-time communications and Voice SDK platform. You will work with authentication, token management, push notifications, and observability tooling to ensure reliability at scale.

You’ll collaborate with mobile and JavaScript SDK engineers, owning backend systems from design to deployment, monitoring, and production support, in a distributed production

Qualifications

• Strong experience building and operating backend systems in production.
• Experience with distributed systems and service-oriented architectures.
• Experience with Elixir or Erlang, or ability to ramp up quickly in Elixir.
• Experience with Kubernetes, containers, CI/CD, and modern production infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, maintain, and operate backend services for WebRTC and Voice SDK products.
• Take ownership of backend systems including authentication and token services, push notification services, and diagnostic logging.
• Improve reliability, scalability, and maintainability of customer-facing backend services.
• Improve deployment processes, rollout safety, and production readiness for distributed services.
• Collaborate with mobile, JavaScript, infrastructure, and other engineering teams to improve end-to-end reliability.
• Shape architecture and technical direction of backend systems supporting WebRTC products.
