Overview We are currently recruiting for a Retail & Trade Manager who will report directly to the CEO. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing employees, overseeing retail and trade activities, maintaining stock control standards, and ensuring excellent customer service is delivered throughout the business.
Direct management of employees while managing day-to-day tasks, communicating these tasks, with follow up to ensure an acceptable standard of completion. Manage breaks and be cognisant of cover required regarding rosters, holidays and days off. Maintain constant communication with your team by providing direction, support and feedback. Assist and train the team to deliver quality service. Train team members on acceptable company standards of packing, picking and presentation. Undertake training as may be required.
Manage our service in the retail and trade department and lead and champion customer service standards to maximise the return in sales and margin. Develop and maintain a good working relationship with existing customers, offering the highest level of customer care and attention. Assist on all counters, with specific responsibility for the Trade Counter. Process cash and account counter sales. Provide excellent customer service for key account holders. Assist with in-store promotions, sales days, trade shows and related activities. Liaise with other managers to improve company performance and procedures, including providing management cover for other departmental managers. Manage and monitor the business and adapt to any changes that may arise.
Responsible for stock control, movement, product presentation, display pricing, storage and supply. Maintain supplier listings and stock availability. Work closely with buyers and assist with new product selection through communication with suppliers. Keep up to date with market trends, industry standards and building regulations. Work as a team member in carrying out processes and supporting colleagues. Assist with stock takes as required throughout the year. Maintain constant communication with colleagues regarding planning and efficiency.
Policy and system management. Manage Health & Safety and that of your team. Set and maintain the standards of cleanliness required by the company. Carry out other ad hoc duties as required by management. Be proactive, willing to suggest improvements and show initiative.
Ideally experienced in leading and managing a team within a high-volume retail space. Ideally a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is highly desirable. General Builders Materials / Hardware and Plumbing / Construction product knowledge desirable, but not essential. Strong communicator with the ability to articulate messages clearly, listen to others and engage people in the message being communicated. Good stock control knowledge is essential. Strong people management skills are essential. Good coaching and leadership skills are a bonus. Must be efficient with a proven track record in meeting deadlines. Excellent attention to detail. IT literate with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and other MS Office products. Excellent organising and leadership skills with commercial awareness.
