Job summary

Callan Co-op group seeks an experienced retail manager to join our busy SPAR Express store and Texaco forecourt in Kilkenny as Assistant Manager. You will lead the team on shift, own daily operations, ensure excellent customer service, and manage stock and cash handling.

The role requires proven management experience in fast-paced retail, flexibility for late shifts and weekends, and knowledge of HACCP and EPOS systems.

Qualifications

• Proven management experience in a fast-paced, customer-facing retail environment.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Competence with EPOS and stock management systems.

Responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for the running of the store and forecourt in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Open and close the premises, complete daily operational checks and hand over between shifts.
• Lead the team on shift, set tasks, and maintain high standards of presentation, cleanliness and availability.
• Resolve day-to-day operational issues, including equipment faults, fuel and forecourt matters, deliveries and customer escalations.
• Manage rostering and shift coverage to ensure smooth operation across the trading week.
• Set customer service standards and coach the team to meet them.
• Handle customer queries and complaints professionally to ensure satisfaction.
