Job summary

Cheeverstown House is seeking a Part Time Respite Care Assistant to support people with an intellectual disability to enjoy meaningful activities in their local communities. The role focuses on person-centred goals, social connections and independence, working weekends and evenings as part of a supportive team.

Applicants should hold a QQI Level 5 Major Award in Healthcare or Social Care, have a full driving licence, and demonstrate excellent communication and independence.

Job description

Respite Care Assistant

Part Time | 19 Hours weekly | Weekends Included | Permanant Contract

Cheeverstown is a voluntary organisation, regulated by the Health Information & Quality Authority (HIQA).

We provide a wide range of person centred services including residential, respite and day services to almost 400 children and adults with an intellectual disability in the south Dublin area.

The Role

The aim of this Unique role is to support people to have a variety of activities based on individual preference within the community with a focus on achieving person centred goals. Supporting the development of social skills is a key part of the role along with community integration utilising local amenities. This is not a traditional residential role. Instead, you will be supporting people to enjoy meaningful experiences within their local communities, develop social connections and increase independence through fun, engaging and person-centred activities.

Cheeverstown Respite Services wish to expand & develop their suite of service to support people to meet socially for evenings & weekends. The aim is to support engagement in chosen activities & offer opportunities to meet friends & people with similar interests.

Essential Requirements

• Full driving licence
• Passion for community inclusion and person-centred supports.
• Experience supporting adults with intellectual disabilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• QQI Level 5 Major Award in Healthcare, Social Care or a relevant qualification appropriate to your grade.
• Self-motivated, enthusiastic and able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Salary will be paid as per the HSE consolidated pay scales .
