Job summary

Delta Centre CLG is seeking enthusiastic Care Assistants to support adults with intellectual disabilities and autism in a person-centred respite service. You will help individuals pursue independence, choice and quality of life while delivering high-quality supports.

Responsibilities include getting to know each service user, following care plans, using communication systems, and building trusting relationships.

Qualifications

• A FETAC Level 5 qualification in Health Care.
• Experience in health care is essential.
• Excellent communication and record-keeping skills are required.
• Knowledge of The National Standards for Adults with Disabilities is desirable.

Job description

Purpose of the Role:

Due to the continued expansion of our Adult Respite Service, we are seeking enthusiastic, motivated, and compassionate Care Assistants to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to support adults with intellectual disabilities and/or autism in a person-centred service that promotes independence, inclusion, choice, and quality of life.

As a Care Assistant, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality supports within a respite setting, empowering individuals to achieve their personal goals while enjoying meaningful and enriching experiences.

The Care Assistant, in co-operation with Management, will be responsible for ensuring that the person/s we support have good, high quality, safe, meaningful, and inclusive lives.

• Demonstrate empathy towards Service user:

1. Get to know each Service user in your care.
2. Pay attention to each Service user in your care.
3. Pay Attention to 'cues' in their behavior-read them and follow behaviour support plans where relevant.
4. Be patient

• Review and put into practice the details of Care Plans and Person-Centered Plans for each Service user.
• Review, regularly, all protocols of care for each Service user in your care.
• Understand and facilitate Service user needs through the use of appropriate communication systems.
• Assist each individual in reaching the maximum potential in independence, communication, and personal development.
• Establish trust relationships through consistency of care.Adhere to all Delta Centers Policies, Procedures, Employee Handbook and working practices.

Personal Profile:

Education & Training:

• A FETAC Level 5 qualification in Health Care is a requirement for this position.

Experience:

• Experience in the field of health care is essential.
• Proven competence in the care and support of adults with intellectual disabilities and a genuine interest in this area is required.

Knowledge & Skills:

• A sound knowledge and proven ability to interpret and apply legislation such as The National Standards for Adults with Disabilities.
• Applicants must have excellent communication skills and be highly motivated.
• Excellent record-keeping skills are required.
• Proven ability to develop positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
• Flexible and adaptable nature
• Shift work over 24/7.
• Includes waking night duty
