Job summary

The Rehab Group in Castlebar, Mayo is hiring a Care Worker on a permanent contract working 10 hours per week to provide personal care to individuals with intellectual disability and mental health difficulties within a respite setting. We value dignity, independence and community inclusion.

You will work in a supportive team, follow HIQA standards, and participate in training. Full manual driving licence and QQI Level 5 in Social Care plus at least 12 months' experience are required.

Qualifications

Minimum of 12 months experience in care settings.
Full manual driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities

Promote and actively get involved in teamwork, creating a nurturing and supportive environment for the service user.
Provide personal assistance in all aspects of personal care and manual handling, ensuring comfort and hygiene of service users and adhering to safe practice at all times.
Assist service users in the taking of medication in line with policy and procedure.
Ensure that interactions with service users are approached with dignity, respect and equality and incorporating choice.
Actively participate in appropriate, educational, recreational and occupational programmes, enabling service users to integrate with their local community and access local resources.

Care Worker

Permanent Contract, 10 hours per week

Location: Castlebar, Mayo

About the Role:

To provide and deliver personal care services to individuals with Intellectual Disability and Mental Health Difficulties within a respite service setting, in an environment which values and respects the individual, fosters a positive behavioural support approach to supporting people with challenging behaviours and an environment that fosters community based living, personal development and social inclusion.

What We’re Looking For:

Candidates should have an understanding, knowledge and experience of working with clients with disability and be able to maintain a high standard of care in line with RehabCare’s policy and procedures while ensuring that HIQA standards and regulations are maintained within the service.
Candidates should have experience of working in a residential/respite care setting
Candidates should have experience of providing appropriate supports to service users with relevant disability and whose behaviour may challenge.
Candidates should have experience of facilitating and implementing a person centred plan.
Candidates should have experience in the support of independent living skills and community integration for persons with relevant disability.
Candidates should have experience in the provision of personal assistance in all aspects of personal care.

Your Responsibilities:

Actively participate in appropriate, educational, recreational and occupational programmes, enabling service users to integrate with their local community and access local resources.
Ensure safe transportation of clients, by adhering to policy and procedure and the use of all safety equipment as appropriate.
Assist with catering, cleaning, general domestic duties and the documentation of information within the service as deemed necessary.

Additional Requirements:

Full manual driving licence is essential.
Minimum of QQI Level 5 in Social Care, or equivalent.
Willing to participate in all training provided.
Minimum of 12 months experience.

If applicable, candidates will need to provide a police certificate for any country they've lived in before moving to Ireland

Salary

Salary starting from point 1 €31,561.64 to point 5 €35,982.66 (pro rata),issubject to experience and qualification. The 12-point salary scale provides annual progression opportunities up to€43,730.75 per annum.
