Job summary

The Rehab Group in Castlebar, Mayo is seeking a dedicated Care Worker on a permanent contract, 10 hours per week. You will provide and deliver personal care services to individuals with intellectual disability and mental health difficulties within a respite service setting, promoting dignity and independence.

Full manual driving licence is essential; QQI Level 5 in Social Care or equivalent is required. Training will be provided.

Qualifications

• Experience working with clients with disability and maintaining HIQA-compliant standards.
• Experience in residential/respite care settings.
• Experience supporting service users with relevant disability and challenging behaviours.
• Experience facilitating and implementing person-centred plans.
• Experience promoting independent living skills and community integration.
• Experience providing personal care and assistance.

Responsibilities

• Promote teamwork and create a nurturing environment for service users.
• Provide personal assistance in all aspects of personal care and manual handling with dignity and safety.
• Assist service users with taking medications per policy.
• Ensure interactions with service users are respectful and inclusive of choice.
• Engage in educational, recreational, and occupational programs to aid community integration.
• Ensure safe transport of clients following policy and using safety equipment.
• Assist with catering, cleaning, and documentation as needed.
