Job summary

Enable Ireland is seeking a motivated Respite Support Worker to join the team in Carlow and Kilkenny.

The role involves delivering respite and home support services to children and young people, following a person-centred plan and promoting independence and participation in daily activities and community life. A valid health-care qualification and driving license are required, with flexible hours including full-time, part-time and relief contracts.

Qualifications

• Formal Health Care qualification (FETAC/QQI Level 5 NVQ/City and Guilds) required.
• Experience of working with children.
• Experience in a disability service.
• Must have current eligibility to work in Ireland.
• Must hold a full manual driving license and have access to own transport.

Responsibilities

• Support children in respite and home settings with a person-centred approach.
• Assist in implementing care programmes to meet each childs needs with dignity.
• Enable participation in day-to-day activities and community/leisure activities.
• Facilitate involvement in therapy, education, and other needs within the service.
• Ensure appropriate use and maintenance of any equipment.
• Monitor health and medical needs of individuals and respond accordingly.
• Support healthy dietary requirements and preferences.
• Demonstrate sensitivity while working with families and service users.
• Provide personal care support including intimate care as required.
• Accompany children on outings and support community-based activities.
