Job summary

The Rehab Group in Castlebar, Mayo is seeking a dedicated Care Worker on a permanent contract, 10 hours per week. You will provide and deliver personal care services to individuals with intellectual disability and mental health difficulties within a respite service setting, promoting dignity and independence.

Full manual driving licence is essential; QQI Level 5 in Social Care or equivalent is required. Training will be provided.

Qualifications

Experience working with clients with disability and maintaining HIQA-compliant standards.
Experience in residential/respite care settings.
Experience supporting service users with relevant disability and challenging behaviours.
Experience facilitating and implementing person-centred plans.
Experience promoting independent living skills and community integration.
Experience providing personal care and assistance.

Responsibilities

Promote teamwork and create a nurturing environment for service users.
Provide personal assistance in all aspects of personal care and manual handling with dignity and safety.
Assist service users with taking medications per policy.
Ensure interactions with service users are respectful and inclusive of choice.
Engage in educational, recreational, and occupational programs to aid community integration.
Ensure safe transport of clients following policy and using safety equipment.
Assist with catering, cleaning, and documentation as needed.

Care Worker

About The Role

To provide and deliver personal care services to individuals with Intellectual Disability and Mental Health Difficulties within a respite service setting, in an environment which values and respects the individual, fosters a positive behavioural support approach to supporting people with challenging behaviours and an environment that fosters community based living, personal development and social inclusion.

What We’re Looking For

Candidates should have an understanding, knowledge and experience of working with clients with disability and be able to maintain a high standard of care in line with RehabCare’s policy and procedures while ensuring that HIQA standards and regulations are maintained within the service.

Candidates should have experience of providing appropriate supports to service users with relevant disability and whose behaviour may challenge.
Candidates should have experience of facilitating and implementing a person centred plan.
Candidates should have experience in the support of independent living skills and community integration for persons with relevant disability.
Candidates should have experience in the provision of personal assistance in all aspects of personal care.

Your Responsibilities

Promote and actively get involved in teamwork, creating a nurturing and supportive environment for the service user.

Provide personal assistance in all aspects of personal care and manual handling, ensuring comfort and hygiene of service users and adhering to safe practice at all times.
Assist service users in the taking of medication in line with policy and procedure.
Ensure that all interactions with service users are approached with dignity, respect and equality and incorporating choice.
Actively participate in appropriate, educational, recreational and occupational programmes, enabling service users to integrate with their local community and access local resources.
Ensure safe transportation of clients, by adhering to policy and procedure and the use of all safety equipment as appropriate.
Assist with catering, cleaning, general domestic duties and the documentation of information within the service as deemed necessary.

Additional Requirements

Full manual driving licence is essential.
Minimum of QQI Level 5 in Social Care, or equivalent.
Willing to participate in all training provided.
Minimum of 12 months experience.

If applicable, candidates will need to provide a police certificate for any country they've lived in before moving to Ireland

A panel may be formed as a result of this campaign.

Salary starting from point 1 €31,561.64 to point 5 €35,982.66

(pro rata), issubject to experience and qualification. The 12-point salary scale provides annual progression opportunities up to €43,730.75 per annum.
