Qualifications

  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university and 4 years professional or administrative experience to include minimum of 2 years of educational program experience or similar experience.
  • High school diploma, GED from a recognized state or federal accredited organization and 7 years professional or administrative experience to include minimum of 4 years of educational program experience or similar experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the residency training program and manage meeting logistics.
  • Assist the residency program director with recruitment and interview process; ensure residents meet AU GME policies and requirements.
  • Prepare remittance authorizations for meals, travel expense statements, packets, and provide general office support for residents and staff.

College/Department Information

The Medical College of Georgia (MCG) is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 304 students per class. The MCG educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, with regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state, and two four-year campuses located in Athens (in partnership with the University of Georgia) and in Savannah (in partnership with Georgia Southern University). MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provide more than 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education to approximately 575 residents and fellows in 50 different Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved programs. Our researchers and clinicians focus on what most impacts the health of Georgia's and America's children and adults, including cardiovascular biology and disease, cancer, neurosciences and behavioral sciences, public and preventive health, regenerative and reparative medicine, personalized medicine and genomics. Our physician faculty also share their expertise with physicians and patients at about 100 clinics and hospitals statewide.

Job Summary

The residency program coordinator is an administrative role critical to the coordination, administration and support of the Internal Medicine (IM) residency program. The residency program coordinator, reporting to the program director and in support of the associate program director and core faculty, ensures the educational integrity, clinical relevance, and ACGME compliance of the Internal Medicine residency program. Program coordinators also provide support directly to the residents and all the teaching faculty in the program.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

DAILY OPERATIONS

Assist in the day to day operations of the residency training program. Plan, order, setup, and clear meals for regular meetings for committee and conferences. Reserve meeting rooms and serve as point of contact. Perform general office duties, manage director calendar, creating and maintaining intensive resident and program schedules.

RESIDENT RECRUITMENT

Assist the residency program director with recruitment and interview process for candidates. Ensure residents comply with AU GME policies and procedures. Coordination of documentation for all current and incoming residents. Coordination of documentation to demonstrate that all residents are meeting departmental and ACGME requirements. Maintain documents for accreditation. Distribute One45 emails for each block.

ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT

Prepare remittance authorizations for resident meals, special events, and reimbursement for regular program supplies. Prepare check requests and IDRs as needed. Prepare and submit travel expense statements. Prepare applicant packets, name badges, labels, and photo rosters for the recruitment season. Provide office and administrative support for residents.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year educational program or similar experience OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university and 4 years professional or administrative experience to include minimum of 2 years of educational program experience or similar experience. OR High school diploma, GED from a recognized state or federal accredited organization and 7 years professional or administrative experience to include minimum of 4 years of educational program experience or similar experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Axium and Banner software

Advanced formal education beyond Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in business and accounting

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Organizational and communication skills

Knowledgeable in MS Office and good telephone etiquette

Ability to learn PeopleSoft, multi-task and work independently

Excellent customer service and time management skills

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Shift/Salary/Benefits
  • Shift: Days/M-F
  • Pay Band: 7
  • Salary Minimum: $20.29/hour - $25.00/hour
  • Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
  • Recruitment Period: 8/26/26 - Until filled
