Job summary

Advanced Foot and Ankle Center in Utah seeks a Medical Assistant to support clinicians, prepare patients, measure vital signs, document care, and assist with minor procedures in a busy outpatient setting.

Excellent communication, computer skills, and HIPAA compliance are essential. CPR certification and EMR experience are valued, with priority given to candidates who can work with minimal supervision.

Job Type: Full‑time

Responsibilities
  • Coordinates with clinic staff to ensure a positive patient flow, waiting room, and exam room experience
  • Prepares patients to be seen by physicians, collects vital signs and testing as required by the provider
  • Assists provider with collection, documentation, processing, and verification of information related to patient care in EMR system
  • Monitors, cleans, and sanitizes assigned patient examination rooms, unit areas, and unit equipment; reports outdated supplies, stock levels and restock set levels of items and necessary equipment repairs
  • Assists in routine clerical functions such as filing of medical information in patient’s records, locating and compiling department charts, and obtains necessary medical records from other providers
  • Performs diagnostic tests and processes and enters results
  • Communicates patient concerns and needs to the healthcare provider
  • Provides timely response to patient inquiries and timely completion of assigned tasks
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively on the phone, in writing and via email, as well as ability to exercise discretion on sensitive and confidential matters
  • Assists physicians in preparing for minor surgeries
  • Assists with scheduling of tests and treatments
  • Applies dressing, bandages, and splints as ordered by podiatrist
  • Maintains a sanitized and safe working environment
  • Maintains HIPAA compliance
  • Performs other duties as assigned by practice manager
  • Critical‑thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision
  • Strong computer skills and use of Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of basic medical procedures such as dressing a wound
  • Strong communication skills and ability to actively listen
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
  • Strong organizational and clerical skills to maintain patient files and perform office duties

  • Knowledge of safety and sanitation procedures
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Current American Heart Association CPR Certification
  • Certification from an approved medical assistant program or equivalent combination of training
  • EMR experience is a plus
Preferred Qualifications
  • National Medical Assistant Certification
  • Successful completion of a medical assisting externship
  • One or more years experience in an outpatient clinic or other healthcare setting
  • One or more years of demonstrated customer service experience
  • Experience working with an EMR system
  • Experience as a medical scribe
  • CPR Certification
  • X‑ray certification
Physical Demands / Environmental Factors

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, stoop, crouch, or kneel; use hands; and talk or hear.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to look at a screen for extended periods of time.

Must be able to lift/carry up to 45 lbs.

Fine motor skills and ability to type using a keyboard.
