Job summary

Astatine Limited offers a paid internship at Guinness Enterprise Centre, Dublin 8, with hybrid working options. You will assist across mechanical, electrical, controls, and solar engineering, supporting project teams to design, analyse and implement sustainable energy solutions.

The role is ideal for students or recent graduates eager to learn and contribute to decarbonisation initiatives, with exposure to cutting-edge technologies and real-world engineering challenges.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, energy, or controls.
• Engineering (or related discipline).
• Basic understanding of heat pumps, chillers, solar PV, and/or battery storage systems.
• Familiarity with selection and design of key equipment (pumps, control valves, heat exchangers, solar modules, inverters, process piping).
• Proficiency in CAD software is required, specifically: Revit and 2D AutoCAD.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in analysing customer site infrastructure (thermal, electrical, and controls) and propose solutions under supervision.
• Support the design and integration of solar PV, battery storage, heat pump, and control systems into client processes.
• Participate in engineering design tasks, including energy balance, performance predictions, and system layouts.
• Attend and contribute to customer, project construction, and design meetings.
• Collaborate with engineers to select key equipment (pumps, valves, heat exchangers, solar modules, inverters).
• Create detailed design plans, drawings, and specifications using CAD and BIM tools.
