Job summary

Jobgether is partnering with a company to hire a PHP Engineer based in Ireland for a fully remote role. You will maintain a mature Laravel application, contribute to backend and frontend work, and help modernize the platform toward a cloud-based solution.

You’ll join a pragmatic, full-stack–minded team focused on quality, ownership, and continuous improvement, with opportunities to optimize testing, observability, and deployment practices across regions.

Qualifications

• Significant professional experience building/maintaining production PHP applications.
• Strong hands-on experience with Laravel, including safe upgrades.
• Frontend contribution with JavaScript, CSS, and HTML.
• Ability to evolve mature codebases safely without rewrites.
• Strong debugging, incident response, and root-cause analysis skills.
• Relational databases and SQL understanding.
• Git, CI/CD workflows, automated testing, and disciplined development.
• Ability to work independently and with platform/DevOps teams.
• English at B2 level or above; strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and improve production features across PHP/Laravel backend and frontend.
• Modernize the application while ensuring safe, sustainable changes.
• Keep PHP, Laravel, and dependencies current with safe upgrades.
• Improve automated testing, observability, tooling, CI, and deployment automation.
• Investigate and resolve production incidents through structured debugging.
• Collaborate on cloud migration with platform/DevOps teams.
• Document system behavior, dependencies, and runbooks.
• Work autonomously on priorities and deliver reliable solutions.
• Provide progress updates on priorities, risks, and technical developments.
• Collaborate with distributed teams across Europe, the US, S. America, and Asia; travel occasionally.
