Job summary

Depaul Ireland is seeking Relief Workers for Barrow Place, Carlow, delivering practical support in a busy, on-site setting. The role requires flexibility across a 7-day rota, including nights, to provide food, laundry, bedding and a safe environment for residents.

Applicants should have at least 1 year in homelessness or related areas, with Level 5 social care qualification preferred. The organisation values calm, proactive team players who uphold health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year experience in homelessness or related field; Level 5+ social care qualification preferred.
• Good educational standard; manual handling qualification desirable.
• Understanding of harm reduction and low threshold working.
• Ability to respond calmly in a crisis and use initiative.

Responsibilities

• Meet practical needs of service users (food, laundry, bedding) on shift.
• Maintain a safe and secure environment and high service standards.
• Build trust with service users and handle difficult situations sensitively.
• Carry out duties on assigned rotas and participate in handovers.
• Maintain records for smooth service operations.
• Adhere to Depaul policies including Health and Safety and Confidentiality.
