Depaul’s Relief Worker at Ozanam House in Wexford provides supported accommodation, food and shelter across a 7-day rota. The role is on-site with shifts including nights, requiring adaptability and a calm, compassionate approach to residents.

You will join a values-led charity dedicated to ending homelessness, with a strong emphasis on health, safety, and high-quality service delivery. Salary is €17.49 per hour.

Qualifications

• 1 year in homelessness or related field OR Level 5+ social care qualification.
• Manual handling qualification desirable.
• Understanding of harm reduction and low threshold working.
• Understanding of homelessness issues and supports for residents with complex needs.
• Understanding of risk management principles.
• Calm under crisis and initiative in incidents.
• Team player with good communication.
• Health and Safety knowledge in residential setting.
• Knowledge of Depaul's vision, mission and values.
• Proficient IT including professional email use.

Responsibilities

• Meet practical needs of service users (food, laundry, bedding, etc.).
• Maintain a safe, high-standard environment in the service.
• Work with service users to earn trust and handle difficult situations.
• Carry out duties on specific rotas and contribute to handovers.
• Maintain records for smooth running and uphold policies (Health & Safety, confidentiality).
