Job summary
The Rehab Group in Carlow is seeking a Relief Instructor for a fixed-term 12-month contract with variable hours. The role oversees training and maintenance of the local training programme and supports learners with additional needs to plan future education and employment.
Ideal candidates hold a third-level qualification in Education/Training or Social Sciences and a QQI Level 6 Train the Trainer, with several years of learner-facing experience. Closing date: 25 October 2026.

- Several years of relevant occupational experience with learners.
- Experience in a mental health related area is an advantage.
- Experience in QQI certification and accreditation processes.
Responsibilities
- Provide systematic training according to specified curricula and modules for QQI Level certification 3–5.
- Facilitate learners in developing knowledge, skills and confidence for progression outcomes.
- Meet KPIs in learner placement, progression and certification targets.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to maintain programme allocations.

Salary: 19.09 per hour.
The Relief Instructor is responsible for the training and development of Learners in accordance with the agreed local training programme specifications, together with the day-to-day running and maintenance of all aspects of the training programmes The Instructor assists Learners with additional support needs in exploring their future career and educational direction and in making realistic vocational choices with a view to progressing to further education/employment.
- Third level qualification, preferably within the Education/Training or Social Sciences sector
- A relevant pedagogical/training qualification – Train the Trainer QQI Level 6 as minimum
- A number of years relevant occupational experience of working with learners in educational, guidance and/or developmental contexts
- Experience in working in a mental health related area is an advantage
- Experience in QQI certification and accreditation processes
- An ability to motivate learners to achieve necessary Learning Outcomes at QQI Levels 3
- Provide systematic training according to specified curricula, with responsibility for the instruction of a number of modules for QQI Level certification 3-5
- Facilitate participants in developing the knowledge, skills and confidence necessary to secure progression outcomes
- Meet key performance indicators in relation to learner placement and progression and achievement of certification targets
- As part of a team liaise appropriately with relevant key stakeholders in maintaining programme allocations
