Job summary

WSP, a global engineering and professional services firm, is seeking a Project Director to lead major rail programmes in Ireland within the PMCM Rail team. You will shape regional strategy, expand the client base and deliver complex rail projects across Ireland while building trusted relationships with clients such as Irish Rail, NTA and TII.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering, construction, management or a related discipline.
• Chartered membership of a recognised professional body (or working toward it).
• APM / MSP / PMI / PRINCE2 / Six Sigma qualifications beneficial.
• Proven experience leading major rail or infrastructure projects.
• Experience engaging with rail organisations (Irish Rail, NTA, TII, Network Rail or similar).
• Strong understanding of the Ireland transport or rail market.
• Demonstrated leadership, commercial acumen and stakeholder engagement at senior level.
• Experience delivering NEC3/4 projects in a client‑facing environment.
• Ability to build and lead high-performing teams and establish trusted client relationships.
• Strategic thinker with curiosity, adaptability and a collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead major rail programmes across Ireland, ensuring governance and delivery excellence.
• Establish trusted relationships with Irish rail clients and stakeholders.
• Translate client objectives into successful delivery strategies.
• Deliver NEC3/4 and Irish public‑sector projects within budgets and timelines.
• Manage risk, compliance, safety and quality across programmes.
• Mentor and develop project teams to build regional capability.
• Drive innovation, digital tools, and process improvements across Ireland portfolio.
