Job summary

Vertiv in Burnfoot, Ireland, is seeking an R&D / Product Development Engineer to take busbar trunking products from concept through design, validation and launch. You will collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, Manufacturing, Marketing and Sales to deliver market-leading solutions that meet regulatory standards.

You’ll design and develop new products, create 3D models and drawings, and ensure compliance with IEC 61439 and UL857 while supporting NPDI, DFMEA and PLM documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 3+ years of experience in product design or mechanical design in manufacturing.
• Strong CAD skills using Creo or SolidWorks.
• Experience producing detailed engineering drawings, including GD&T.
• Knowledge of PLM systems.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, organisational and time management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to work independently and across cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new products and enhancements for busbar trunking portfolio.
• Define product specifications and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
• Create 3D models and 2D drawings using Creo, SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software.
• Design to international standards including IEC 61439 and UL857.
• Build and evaluate prototypes to validate performance and concepts.
• Conduct DFMEA and support risk assessments.
• Collaborate with suppliers to source components and materials.
• Support NPDI process and maintain engineering documentation.
• Manage engineering changes through the Engineering Change process.
• Organise and maintain drawings and documentation within PLM systems.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Manufacturing, Sales and Marketing throughout the lifecycle.
• Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation.
