Jones Engineering in Cork is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join our delivery team. You will support the construction team across a range of projects including data centres, healthcare, pharmaceutical and commercial sectors.

The role offers exposure to varied contracts and close collaboration with Contract Managers. The position requires solid IT skills and experience as a QS, with a track record in managing subcontractor accounts, variations, and progress applications.

Qualifications

• Qualifications at third level are an advantage but not essential.
• 4+ years of experience in a similar role with an electrical contractor.
• Ability to work independently and in a multi-functional team.
• Excellent IT skills and proficiency with standard office software.
• Strong presentation, verbal and written communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Support the Construction Team and Senior Quantity Surveyor on all QS functions.
• Advise Contract Managers on the commercial status of projects.
• Assist in reviewing project contracts and preparing commercial reports.
• Negotiate with contractors and prepare variations.
• Manage major subcontractor accounts from award to interim valuation, variations and final accounts.
• Assist the Senior QS with monthly progress applications.
• Carry out other duties related to the role.

Job Description

Due to continued expansion in Jones Engineering, we require a Quantity Surveyor to join the delivery team. The projects involve a wide range of clients in sectors such as Data Centres, Healthcare, Pharmaceutical and Commercial. This role offers experience of varied project work across different sectors and exposure to a diverse range of construction contracts.

Responsibilities

To provide support to Construction Team and Senior Quantity Surveyor on all Quantity Surveying functions including, but not limited to the following:

• Working directly with Contract Managers to advise on Commercial status of projects.
• Assisting in the review of all project contracts
• Assist the Senior QS with the preparation of Commercial Reports.
• Negotiation with contractors across all projects including preparation of variations.
• Manage major subcontractor accounts from initial award to interim valuation, variations and final account.
• Assist the Senior QS with monthly progress applications.
• All other duties associated with this role.

Skills/ Requirements

• Relevant third level qualifications are an advantage but not essential.
• Previous experience (4 years+) in a similar role with an electrical contractor.
• Ability to work both individually and as part of a multi-functional team.
• Excellent IT Skills.
• Demonstrates excellent presentation, verbal, written, and communication skills.
