Job summary

GMC Utilities Group is seeking an QA Auditor to perform quality audits and inspections across Water and Wastewater projects. Travel between the Dublin office and project sites will be required, collaborating with Project Managers, Site Managers, engineers and subcontractors to uphold quality standards.

The role involves identifying non-conformances, raising NCRs, and supporting the team with quality documentation and handover records.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a QA/QC, Quality Auditor or similar role within construction or civil engineering.
  • Experience on Water, Wastewater, Utilities or Civil Infrastructure projects is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems and QA principles.
  • Experience conducting site and project audits.
  • Good knowledge of Inspection & Test Plans, NCRs and quality documentation.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and project documentation.
  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct planned and reactive quality audits across Water and Wastewater projects.
  • Monitor compliance with Quality Management Systems and client requirements.
  • Review project documentation including ITPs, check sheets and quality records.
  • Carry out site inspections to verify works meet drawings and specs.
  • Identify non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
  • Raise, monitor and close out NCRs and observations.
  • Verify effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Review subcontractor and supplier quality documentation.
  • Support maintenance of quality records and handover documents.
  • Participate in internal, client and external audits.
  • Assist with root-cause analysis and continuous improvement.
  • Promote a positive quality culture on sites and with teams.

Job description

The Role.

As QA Auditor, you will be responsible for carrying out quality audits and inspections across Water and Wastewater projects, identifying areas for improvement, ensuring compliance with project and company procedures, and supporting project teams in maintaining a strong quality culture.

The role will involve regular travel between the Dublin office and project sites, working closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, Engineers, Forepersons, subcontractors and clients.

Key Duties and Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct planned and reactive quality audits across Water and Wastewater projects.
  • Monitor compliance with company Quality Management Systems, project-specific quality plans and client requirements.
  • Review and audit project documentation, including Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), check sheets, inspection records, test results and quality records.
  • Carry out site inspections to verify that works are being completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, procedures and agreed standards.
  • Identify non-conformances, deficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
  • Raise, monitor and close out Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), observations and corrective actions.
  • Verify that corrective and preventive actions are effectively implemented.
  • Review subcontractor and supplier quality documentation and performance.
  • Support project teams with the preparation and maintenance of quality documentation and handover records.
  • Participate in internal, client and external audits as required.
  • Assist with root-cause analysis and the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Monitor trends in quality performance and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure appropriate quality records are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support the successful compilation of project handover and close-out documentation.
  • Promote a positive quality culture throughout the organisation and on project sites.
  • Provide guidance and support to site personnel on quality requirements and best practice.
  • Prepare audit reports and communicate findings clearly to relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure all quality-related activities are carried out in accordance with applicable legislation, standards and company procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with the HSEQ team and wider project delivery teams.
The Candidate: Required Experience and Competencies:
  • Previous experience in aQA/QC, Quality Auditor, Quality Engineer or similar rolewithin construction or civil engineering.
  • Experience working onWater, Wastewater, Utilities or Civil Infrastructure projectsis highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems and quality assurance principles.
  • Experience conducting site and project audits.
  • Good knowledge of Inspection & Test Plans, NCRs, corrective actions and quality documentation.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and project documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to quality.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with site teams, management, clients and subcontractors.
  • Strong organisational and reporting skills.
  • Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
  • Relevant third-level qualification in Engineering, Construction, Quality, Science or a related discipline is desirable.
  • Knowledge ofISO 9001and experience within an ISO-certified environment is an advantage.
  • Internal lead auditor to ISO 9001is an advantage.
