Job summary

IT Search in Ireland is seeking a confident Python Engineer to lead end-to-end design and delivery of critical financial platforms for a major global investment bank. The role combines hands-on development with architecture responsibilities, focusing on high-performance systems and ETL pipelines across key trading desks.

The position is a 6-month contract to start, with extension expected for years. It requires 3 days on site per week, with 2 days flexible for home or office.

Qualifications

• Advanced proficiency in Python for full-lifecycle development.
• Experience designing, building, and maintaining complex ETL systems with OO/relational databases.
• Direct experience developing investment banking applications within FX, Equities, Fixed Income, Commodities, or Prime Brokerage.
• Ability to assume architecture duties, design system blueprints, and conduct complex technology assessments.
• Track record of driving long-term, enterprise-scale projects through all phases of the software development lifecycle.
• Strong communication skills to support, advise, and consult with internal business clients and technical management.

Job description

We are seeking a confident Python Engineer to play a pivotal role in the end-to-end design and delivery of critical financial platforms for a major global investment bank. This role combines hands-on application development with architectural responsibilities, focusing on building high-performance systems and complex ETL pipelines across key trading desks.

*6 month contract to start with but this is expected to roll/extend (for years)

*3 days on site per week, 2 days flexible for home or office - your choice

*Daily rate 550-700 per day depending on experience and background

Requirements:

• Advanced proficiency in modern Python for full-lifecycle application development, from initial architecture through to production delivery.
• Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining complex ETL systems and working with object-oriented/relational databases.
• Direct experience developing investment banking applications within Foreign Exchange (FX), Equities, Fixed Income, Commodities, or Prime Brokerage.
• Demonstrated ability to assume architecture duties, design system blueprints, and conduct complex technology assessments.
• Track record of driving long-term, enterprise-scale projects through all phases of the software development lifecycle.
• Strong communication skills to support, advise, and consult with internal business clients and technical management.
