JJ Rhatigan & Company is one of Ireland’s leading Building Contractors, with operations throughout Ireland and the UK. We are currently recruiting for a Purchasing Manager / Strategist

To lead and deliver a strategic procurement function that drives measurable cost efficiencies and commercial value across the organisation. This role is responsible for developing and implementing purchasing strategies that secure improved rates through volume leverage, rebates, and structured payment agreements, while strengthening supplier partnerships and maintaining competitive market tension.

Through effective leadership and development of the Purchasing Department, strong contract negotiation, and data-driven decision-making, the role ensures sustainable cost savings, operational excellence, and long-term supply chain resilience.

About The Role

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Develop and implement strategic purchasing initiatives to achieve improved rates through Volume discounts, Rebates, Structured payment agreements

• Lead and develop the Purchasing Department to deliver strategic, measurable cost efficiencies and enhanced commercial value across the business.
• Secure improved rates through structured discount agreements, volume-based rebates, and commercially advantageous payment terms.
• Drive the creation, ongoing review, and continuous challenge of a robust Master Price List to ensure best‑in‑market pricing and consistency.
• Proactively target suppliers currently winning orders through our subcontractor network (including M&E and plastering/partitioning contractors) to consolidate spend and leverage group purchasing power.
• Strategically review and optimise global supply categories such as energy, fuel, and stationery to identify cost‑saving and efficiency opportunities.
• Deliver international procurement initiatives targeting approximately €5 million in spend outside of Ireland, achieving a minimum 5% cost reduction.
• Strengthen supplier partnerships while maintaining competitive market tension to ensure long‑term commercial advantage.
• Implement data‑driven cost‑saving strategies aligned with company financial objectives and performance targets.
